The Great Hall, now completely restored, is where processing on Ellis Island took place. The ship manifests (passengers lists) were kept there. The Great Hall was packed with immigrants in this photo, which occupies a wall in the museum.

Karbens engraved In the public computer area to the right of the main entrance of the museum, a visitor can keyboard in "Karben," and discover that Phil and Bea Karben, and Arthur and Shirley Karben are the donors who registered as honorees "Carl and Dora Rubenstein Karben." The computer indicates that their names are to be found engraved on Panel 525.

Panel 525 In the Polaroid on the previous screen, my black tote and sunglasses are visible on the pavement, directly in front of Panel 525. A pencil rubbing I made of the engraving is framed below the photo on the preceding screen.
